I am an Astrophysicist and Astrobiologist at ETH in Zürich. As a former NASA and Center for Space and Habitability postdoctoral fellow I already flew six missions on the NASA airborne telescope SOFIA on my search for planets around other stars. My academic interests cover exoplanets, astrobiology, lunar and planetary surface analysis, multi-object and integral-field spectroscopy, airborne astronomy, time-series analysis, technosignatures, data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence.

Communicator & Edutainer

As a renowned science communicator I am very active in education, public outreach and science policy making. Over the past 5 years alone I gave more than 100 academic and public presentations. I am an Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science alumnus, International Science Slammer, Famelab New York regional and Famelab Switzerland national finalist, AAS Astronomy Ambassador, contributor for various SciComm outlets, reappearing guest, organizer and host at Astronomy on Tap or Pint of Science.

Founder & Consultant

In my role as one the co-founders and CEO of the Explainables non-profit I am leading a team of highly qualified young science speakers, communication coaches, and technology consultants from all over the globe. Furthermore I served as a science committee member, challenge mentor and facilitator at NASA Frontier Development Lab, an AI/ML incubator tackling challenges in various fields of space sciences in collaboration with industry stakeholders such as Google Cloud, Nvidia or IBM.
